Q: Tell us about yourself.
My performance style has been described as poetic and technical. I've enjoyed a versatile career as an orchestral flutist, chamber musician, soloist and collaborator.
Professionally trained at The Juilliard School and Manhattan School of Music, I currently occupy the position of Principal Flute Chair for the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. I am also a founding member of Frisson Ensemble and Ensemble Blank, actively touring and reaching audiences all over the US and Korea.
Apart from performing classical music, I also enjoy arranging and playing pop tunes with a group of other talented musicians, called JHM jams. Many of the youtube videos I am featured in are receiving accolades from viewers—namely the LaLa Land cover music which has over 480K views which wasA also recognized by Lionsgate.
Q: What differentiates you and your work from others?
As a classical musician, I am always curious about how to break the boundary of classic music with the audiences living in the 21st century. Designing community engaged concerts and collaborating with other artists in different fields are few things I have been exploring lately for that matter. I view myself as a musician who not only blows a new life into a manuscript but also builds a new bridge to the future of the classical music field.
